This past Christmas I was trying to decide what I could get my Mom and siblings. I decided I wanted it to be something more personal and meaningful than the normal presents. I’ve never been big on traditional scrapbooking, but I’ve been digital scrapbooking since before it was cool. So this year I took some photos that I thought would have meaning and good memories and made them each a personal photo collage.
Mom
For Mom I decided to use a photo we got a couple years ago of all her grand-kids together. The photo was almost two years old, but it represented the last time all her grand-kids were together in one place. Since my brother’s oldest lives with his mom in Utah, and me and my son live in Utah, it’s not that often we are all together at one time. Two summers ago I drove out there for several weeks and my nephew was able to come with me. So not only does this photo represent all her grand-kids, it brings back happy memories of all of us together again for a short time.
Stephanie
When I was deciding what memory to preserve for my sister, Stephanie, I remembered that we had done a photo shoot at the local park with her kids and her dog right before the dog passed away. She had that dog more than 13 years and was very attached to her. I took one of the photos of her and the dog that I thought was such a beautiful picture. She loved it so much she cried. Not only that, her youngest son cried too. It was a bittersweet moment.
Brandon and Christine
For my brother and sister-in-laws’s collage, I decided to go with a family theme. I’ve always loved the saying “All because two people fell in love” and wanted to do something around that theme. Several months before they had visited me in Utah and happened to have copied their SD card from their digital camera to my computer. So I had lots of their own family photos to choose from. Including this awesome shot of my brother with the kids on the beach.
Amber
And last, but certainly not least, for Amber’s collage she’s the sentimental type anyway, so I went through my photos and chose a collection that I knew would mean something to her. A little bit of several moments in time. Finding the love of her life, hanging out with her kids, and dancing with Dad…oh I can’t forget the photo of her and Dad comparing bellies. We weren’t sure who was due first.
